RPGs & Social Deduction

Role-playing games (RPGs) are collaborative storytelling games where players portray characters, make choices, and shape a shared story guided by a Game Master. While Social Deduction games are where players attempt to uncover each other’s hidden role or allegiance.

At DagdaCon, we’ll run a wide range of RPGs and Social Deduction games across the weekend. Below are the current game blurbs. This page is updated as new games are accepted; a full schedule will be published closer to the event.

Blood on the clocktower: Trouble Brewing

A hidden demon stalks among you, aided by mortal minions.

In the tiny town of Ravenswood Bluff, everyone awakens to a scream in the night, and rushes outside to find the town's storyteller impaled on the hour hand of the ancient clocktower. They know only a demon could be responsible, and that this demon must take human form by day to hide. It will kill again, unless the town comes together to find and execute it; but how many innocent townsfolk will die along the way, by the demon's hands, or as victims of the town's paranoia?

Players are given a card with a location such as a cruise ship or movie set. One player is given a card with the word spy on it, they don't know the location. The players with the location card have to guess who the spy is. They ask questions without giving the location away such as 'why were you wearing that earlier?'. A player can accuse who they think is the spy and player reveals their card if the others agree. If the spy is revealed players get points. The spy can take a guess at the location, if correct then the spy gets points.

Clonmel of Cthulu

In this old foggy town, will you face the supernatural and uncover the truth?

In the town of Clonmel in Co.Tipperary, a series of supernatural occurrences and sightings have been reported recently. Fairies spotted partying in the woods at night, Banshees wailing near the River Suir and even a headless man on horseback galloping through the streets!

In Clonmel of Cthulu, players take the role of a group of inexperienced investigators of a Paranormal Detective Agency known as T.A.I.B.H.S.E. (Tactical Anomaly Investigation Bureau & Haunted Site Examiners).

The goal of T.A.I.B.H.S.E. is to examine these sightings, exploring the “paranormal hotspots” of Clonmel, and find a way to put an end to them (or perhaps prove that these sightings aren’t what they seem).

Landing on Alalakh is forbidden. Every crew knows that. The Blight has seeped into every living thing on the moon, altering and corrupting the environment. It's also known the flora developed hallucinogenic qualities easily exploited for valuable drugs. To some enterprising or desperate individuals this highly profitable venture is worth the risk, but it's not a place for a respectable crew of Delvers to go. Tonight is no exception, as the Circle of the Restless is sent to investigate the mysterious death of a movie critic, right after an interrupted premiere.

This game will be suitable for beginners, pregens and anything needed will be provided. It will contain some body horror and unsettling elements, but safety tools (including a lines & veils form) will be used.

The selkies are going hungry, and some of the fishers are blaming the selkies for their dwindling catches. Something needs to be done about it, and lord knows grownups are no good at actually getting anything done, so it's up to you lot. That factory ship has got to go.

She doesn't seem to mind, and she's not home very often anyway. Mom and Dad have had to take Gus to the hospital, so it's just me and my best friend looking after us for the night.

Everything was fine until after dinner, then all the lights went out. All the other houses are fine, and Mom's wards have activated so nothing can come into the garden, or leave. We just have to wait for Mom or Lex to get back. Or until the twins something stupid...

Anya begs the party to find Walter and bring him home safely.

It's the night of April 12th 1926. You are on the SS Essex County, a mixed cargo and passenger ship on its way to Rockport, Massachusetts. Unfortunately in 15 minutes time the Beacon Island Lighthouse will go out, causing your ship to founder on the island's rocks taking serious damage and requiring you to abandon ship. The crew advise that you and the other passengers take the lifeboat and land on Beacon Island. There's a storm brewing after all! Hopefully the lighthouse keepers will be able to help!
